My cooking and baking are praised as gourmet: I am an avid recipe and kitchen craft researcher, innovator and tester. I've made many exciting foods from the recipes in Cook's Illustrated. My complaint is that with a subscription web access to search recipes should be a basic feature. It seems tight-fisted of Cook's Illustrated to withhold that service. I have to do my daily recipe searches with another website.

My husband has gotten many great ideas from Cook's Illustrated and has used the techniques he's learned in the articles on other recipes, too.

Every recipe is tested in the "test kitchen". I buy this as a gift for friends that like to cook and I've been collecting them for years. I highly recommend Cook's Illustrated if you enjoy cooking.

Cooks Illustrated is my favorite cooking magazine, by far. Cooks is a mix between the demystification of Popular Mechanics and the culinary common sense of Fannie Farmer or Julia Child. If you haven't seen it yet and you like to cook, do yourself a favor and pick up a copy. The only downside is that it's a bit expensive. Their online subscription is also terrific but you should subscribe so you can get their beautifully produced and illustrated magazines (I've got four years' worth in my kitchen).
